Traveling to Thailand to train Muay Thai has been something I’ve wanted to do for the last 6 or 7 years. This year my very understanding boss has allowed me to take 6 months off of work to allow me to do so.
After much deliberation and hunting on the internet I found Tiger. It had great reviews from numerous sources and the website and information looked very professional. I popped an exploratory email though and received a reply the next day, this gave me a lot of confidence as other gyms I had emailed hadn’t replied at all. Within 12 weeks of making my mind up and making the necessary work and travel arrangements I was in Phuket at Tiger.
During my 6 weeks stay Ive trained in the Tiger Muay Thai Group classes, Randy’s Bodyfit classes (seriously good) weights and western boxing, but most of my training has been one on one with Muay Thai trainers. For me this was the best way to learn the technique and have 100% focus on me for an hour.
I first trained with Kru Moo then latterly with Kru Yod. Both these guys are first class (as you’d expect) Since Ive been at Tiger Musy Thai and MM, Ive sat and watched at least 3 UFC fighters train with Yod. There are not many places you can go and share the same coach/trainer as the best in the world, these elite guys are normally either too expensive or just out of reach.
In the first 4 weeks I lost 6 kg’s (roughly 14 lbs) and both my fitness and technique have continued to improve dramatically. I would definitely recommend Tiger Muay Thai and MMA to anyone interested in learning or continuing Muay Thai training. Ive met some amazing people, made some great friends and been trained by the best. I will be coming back!
