Tiger Muay Thai and MMA training camp, Phuket, Thailand guest testimonial and comments on training experience:
Sawadee ka! I hope you’re well. All is good back in Philadelphia
Here’s my testimonial. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to write it before I left:
After doing months of research on what gym I wanted to train at, I decided to go to Tiger Muay Thai for many reasons. The location is ideal. Close to all the wonders of Phuket but far enough to focus on training. The variety of classes was another reason. Don’t let the name fool you. They offer a lot more than Muay Thai and MMA.
8am Body Fit, lead by Randy kicked my metabolism into high gear with his unique workouts. Randy did a great job pushing me and other beginners to keep going and never give up. I liked how he showed the class three different ways to do an exercise: beginners, intermediate and advanced, which gave me encouragement while training next to professional fighters and people in much better shape than myself.
After training in the beginners area for a month, I began private sessions with Kru Phet to take my skills to the next level. He helped me fine tune my learnings from beginners class and increased my cardio and stamina with extensive pad and bag work. I highly recommend private sessions for anyone who wants extra attention or just a more intense workout. Kru Phet speaks excellent English and was an integral part in my muay Thai journey.
I also had the opportunity to train with Kru Ritt who taught me boxing and Muay Thai. He pushed me very hard and was patient, always explaining the “whys’ and “hows”. He’s definitely the trainer you want for high intensity and skill building.
Last but not least, I ended my training with Kru Nazee, a muay Thai legend. He was a great teacher who always corrected every little mistake and would never settle for anything less than perfect. He elevated my kicking technique and taught me how to use the ring to my advantage.
I could write forever about my experience at Tiger Muay Thai.
My 3 month journey turned into 6 months with a total weight loss of 40 pounds. I went from feeling sluggish and depressed to having loads of energy and being happy with myself again. I owe this all the Muay Thai and all the great trainers, fighters and friends I met at Tiger. I’m back in Philadelphia now training and plan to go back to Tiger in March to continue training and fight. Thank you to the great office staff for your friendly smiles.
Thank you to all the trainers not mentioned for making my stay feel warm and fun. Thank you to fighter Cyrus Washington for teaching me about nutrition and always being there when I had questions. And thank you to all the wonderful friends I’ve made. You all were the best part of my journey!
